Job description

Planned Systems International (PSI), a Government Contractor, has an immediate opportunity available for a Database Systems Engineer with database and software development experience. The candidate will provide software engineering and integration support for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Independent Enterprise Testing Support Services (IETSS) contract. Candidate will work with various applications such as: The VA’s Veterans Health Information System Technology Architecture (VistA), Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) Millennium, and other EHR systems. Required skills include Python script development, working with Oracle and MS SQL databases, building Python based websites, and knowledge of network protocols. Knowledge of AI tools for software development and data analysis is a plus. Testing capability skills, such as designing and creating test cases, system integration with external components, and understanding system architecture and database development are also desired. Candidate will actively participate in collaborative meetings with the VA customer, contract teammates, VA project teams and other key stakeholders. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Candidate must be able to: Evaluate, implement, test, and manage technology solutions.

  • Develop and execute architecture strategies, feasibility studies, and integration analyses.

  • Independently gather and define the architecture requirements and ensure that the architectures are compatible and in compliance with the appropriate IT organization and project standards.

  • Analyze application architecture of the systems, perform risk assessments, and be able to establish appropriate architecture for testing environments.

  • Work simultaneously on multiple tasks if necessary, handle changing priorities, be detail oriented, and be able to work independently.

  • Write effective client deliverable analysis reports with little to no supervision.

  • Must be capable of utilizing organizationally established architecture tools, repositories, and repository management processes to capture, publish, and maintain architecture artifacts.

Requirements

  • Must also have excellent oral and written communication skills and exhibit excellent customer service skills.

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation. Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and obtain a Government-granted Security clearance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered if other requirements are met.

  • At least 10 years of overall information technology experience. Must have experience in Software Engineering including development, integration experience, architecture analysis, and testing the integration between applications, databases, and external applications.

  • Experience working in Oracle or SQL Server in a UNIX/VMS/Windows environment.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a recognized technical, engineering, scientific, managerial, business, or other discipline related to area of expertise. Physical Demands

  • Access to VA network is a big plus

  • Experience with Oracle Millennium is preferred.

  • Healthcare, VA and DoD architecture/engineering experience would be a plus.

  • Experience with Python, Java, J2EE applications

  • Experience with:

  • HP Quality Center and Rational Clear Quest

  • Risk based testing methodologies
