Job description

Our Engineering team is constantly developing new technology to build the next generation pricing and billing platform. As a Backend Engineer you will become part our team within a fast-growing FinTech startup in which you can make a real impact. Full-time · Utrecht Office

We are looking for software engineers that like to work directly with their colleagues in other disciplines such as Product, Design, Marketing and Sales.

Our stack currently consists of Kotlin, KTOR, PostgreSQL, Kafka, MyBatis, and GCP. We prefer to work with people who have seen -or want to learn - different technologies, as we believe that all tools are a means to an end and it’s good to have some perspective.

  • Build and maintain our distributed, high-performance platform
  • Launch fast and iterate often - this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring code live that impacts many customers
  • Be fully responsible from its initial design to bringing new functionality to production, and supporting it once live
  • Collaborate with colleagues to make things happen, discuss new and existing functionality, review code, and be open to feedback
  • Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and best practices
  • Assist Sales to understand our customer needs, and translate this to engineering tasks

Requirements

  • We are looking for people with a strong computer science or software engineering background. You fit the following profile:
  • A strong technical background, including industry experience building high-quality code and infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages (Kotlin/Java)
  • Understand good practices for building and working with APIs
  • You have a good understanding of database technology such as PostgreSQL, containerization (i.e. Docker), version control systems (like Git), and unit testing and end-to-end testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise
  • You are willing to come work at our amazing Utrecht office at least 4 days a week.
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with financial product companies and/or you are interested in the FinTech market
  • You are living in The Netherlands
  • You have a valid work permit for The Netherlands

Benefits & conditions

  • A competitive salary, and ESOP plan
  • An exciting job in a fast-growing early-stage tech startup where you have the opportunity to take responsibility from day one
  • The opportunity to learn from senior colleagues that have extensive experience from companies like Adyen, Messagebird, and Salesforce
  • A shiny new MacBook to work your magic on
  • Monthly team activities
  • 25 holidays per year
  • A great office in the center of Utrecht
  • Delicious daily team lunches and amazing coffee from our office barista
