Job description

Google’s software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user’s interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams and engineering managers to develop kernel HAL, framework that enables user experience with next generation sensing technologies.
  • Write code in C, C++, Objective-C or Python for embedded microcontroller and sensor applications.
  • Create and execute plans to bring-up, debug and validate designs to achieve functional and performance goals.
  • Design basic software Graphical User Interface (GUI) to demonstrate the feature.
  • Learn Android sensor framework and adapt for desktop form factors. Present results to both internal and external Engineering teams.

Requirements

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area., * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C or C++).
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems., * Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
