Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Virginia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives in a high-security environment. You will ensure system integrity, implement security patches, and provide Tier 2/3 support while adhering to strict DoD compliance standards. This position requires an ACTIVE clearance. Candidates without an active clearance will not be considered., System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and associated hardware/software in a Windows/Linux environment. Security & Compliance: Apply STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), manage system updates, and ensure all systems meet DoD security requirements (NIST 800-53). Virtualization: Manage virtual server environments (VMware vSphere or Hyper-V) including provisioning, snapshots, and resource allocation. Active Directory: Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP services. Backup & Recovery: Perform regular system backups, test disaster recovery procedures, and ensure high availability (HA) of critical applications. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues; provide root cause analysis for recurring problems. Monitoring: Utilize system monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, SCOM) to ensure system health and performance. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and incident reports. Requirements

Certification Requirement: Must possess IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, or GSEC) or higher., U.S. Citizenship: Mandatory. Active Clearance: Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret/SCI is highly desired). Certification: Must currently hold an IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP). Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field + 3-5 years of experience; OR High School Diploma + 7+ years of relevant experience (can substitute for degree). Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and/or Red Hat Linux. Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Management. Familiarity with PowerShell or Bash scripting. Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing). Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with AWS or Azure cloud environments. Knowledge of DISA STIG implementation and ACAS scanning. Experience with Citrix or VDI solutions. Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for automation. TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
