Job description
My client in the Wakefield area require an experienced Procurement Assistant Manager.
Duties of the Role
Supporting the Procurement Manager with sourcing goods, materials and services for upcoming projects.
Requesting and reviewing supplier quotes, helping to secure best value and reliable availability.
Processing, progressing and chasing stock orders, returns and reworks.
Working closely with internal teams to understand project requirements, sales pipelines and customer orders.
Helping to maintain the right stock levels so projects can be completed on time and in full.
Building positive supplier relationships and supporting price negotiations.
Keeping procurement records, supplier information and reporting data accurate and up to date.
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce errors and support a “right first time” approach.
Supporting health, safety and compliance activity, including records and audit preparation where required.
Requirements
Previous Procurement experience, ideally within a manufacturing or stock-focused environment.
Good numeracy, written communication and spoken English skills.
Experience using stock management or purchasing systems, ideally SAP.
Strong attention to detail and a practical, organised approach to priorities.
Confidence communicating with suppliers, colleagues and stakeholders at different levels.
Good negotiation skills and a focus on value, service and reliability.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
A proactive mindset, with the ability to spot issues early and suggest improvements.
