Job description

Lead the delivery of complex engineering projects across a portfolio of programmes.

  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Software and FPGA Engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Oversee engineering planning, resource allocation and delivery priorities.
  • Manage project risks, dependencies and technical issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Programme Managers, Engineering Managers and key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentor and support a small team of engineers, providing leadership and technical guidance.
  • Drive collaboration across cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative technical solutions.
  • Ensure engineering activities align with programme objectives, governance and compliance requirements.

Requirements

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical leader who can manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, drive programme delivery and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to the highest quality standards. Whilst this is not a hands-on development role, you will need to be technically credible and capable of providing leadership across software and FPGA engineering teams., Proven experience leading the delivery of complex engineering or software development projects.

  • Strong background managing software engineering programmes and multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Technically credible with a good understanding of C++ and FPGA development environments (hands-on development experience is not required).
  • Experience delivering products throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, leadership and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering projects within highly regulated or secure environments.
  • Background in defence, aerospace or advanced engineering programmes.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
