Technical Product Manager - Finance ERP Responsibilities

  • Lead the long-term product strategy, roadmap, and prioritization for enterprise finance ERP capabilities, aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals and operational needs.
  • Own the ERP product backlog, defining priorities that balance new functionality, system stability, integrations, technical debt reduction, and ongoing platform enhancements.
  • Translate finance, payroll, and operational business requirements into detailed technical specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including upgrades, patches, release planning, testing, and continuous platform optimization.
  • Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and support teams to ensure the ERP ecosystem is secure, scalable, reliable, and well-integrated with other enterprise systems.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, implementation partners, and third-party providers to ensure project deliverables align with product priorities and contractual expectations.
  • Facilitate product governance activities, including roadmap reviews, prioritization sessions, stakeholder meetings, and release planning across cross-functional business teams.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics such as system availability, adoption, transaction efficiency, and application quality to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational change initiatives by collaborating with business leaders to communicate system updates, encourage user adoption, and promote successful implementation outcomes.
  • Ensure ERP solutions adhere to applicable financial controls, data privacy standards, and organizational compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management, ERP product ownership, enterprise applications, or a related leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise ERP implementations, enhancements, or modernization initiatives across complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting, payroll, and operational business processes within enterprise systems.
  • Experience managing product roadmaps, Agile backlogs, release planning, stakeholder prioritization, and iterative software delivery.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, enterprise integrations, and application lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, executive stakeholders, business users, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and change management skills.
  • Experience with ERP platforms in public sector, education, or similarly regulated environments is preferred.
  • Agile, Scrum Product Owner, Certified Product Manager, or related product management certifications are a plus.
