Software QA Engineer

Initech Global is seeking a meticulous, quality-focused Software QA Engineer for their client in Grand Rapids, Michigan to support end-to-end quality across customer-facing web and mobile applications. The role is centered on quality assurance, with an emphasis on testing rigor, usability, and the ability to understand requirements and user impact. Key Responsibilities Own end-to-end quality for customer-facing web and mobile applications. Design and execute comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies. Define and maintain test plans, test cases, regression coverage, and defect tracking for UI and API testing. Validate APIs and perform data-driven testing to ensure front-end and back-end coverage. Collaborate with developers, designers, and stakeholders to improve product usability and quality. Translate user behavior and product requirements into clear QA deliverables and acceptance coverage. Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide a user-focused QA perspective during requirements refinement. Identify UI and UX gaps early and advocate for improvements before release. Support backlog refinement and user story validation from a quality and testability perspective., Apply strong technical QA skills while helping improve the user experience. 5+ years of hands-on Quality Assurance experience, including mobile and web application testing. Demonstrated experience with manual and automated testing tools such as Cypress and Selenium. Experience validating APIs and executing data-driven tests. Strong working knowledge of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban. Proven ability to identify user pain points, usability issues, and workflow risks early in the development life cycle. Highly detail-oriented, methodical, and committed to delivering reliable, customer-centered products. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. High-level familiarity with requirements clarification, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, and prioritization. Preferred Qualifications Experience defining or refining user stories, acceptance criteria, or product requirements. Background incorporating user research or customer feedback into quality decisions. Familiarity with performance or load testing tools. Experience building and executing automation frameworks from the ground up.
