  • Build and maintain APIs, ecommerce functionality, internal tools, and AI-powered workflows.
  • Work within large production codebases supporting hundreds of retail locations across multiple countries.
  • Improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Help shape the long-term architecture of our platform.

  • Listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and translate ideas into software.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to product discussions.
  • Manage priorities, execute efficiently, and follow through on commitments.
  • Be an active member of a small, collaborative engineering team.

Requirements

This role is for an experienced engineer who is comfortable owning work in a fast-moving production environment. We are looking for someone who has already solved these types of problems and is confident working independently while collaborating closely with the team.

You should have:

  • 4-5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience (more is encouraged).
  • Strong expertise in React, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience building and maintaining production ecommerce applications.
  • Strong knowledge of MongoDB, Express, REST APIs, and modern web architecture.
  • Experience working in large, long-lived (“brownfield”) codebases.
  • The ability to quickly understand existing systems and make thoughtful improvements without unnecessary rewrites.
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and software design skills.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality, production-ready software with minimal supervision.

About the company

PayMore is one of the fastest-growing technology-enabled retail franchise companies in North America, with 140 locations open and 400+ additional locations in development. Headquartered on Long Island, we’re building the software that powers our stores, ecommerce platform, AI initiatives, internal operations, and customer experience across the United States, Canada, and beyond., AI is a Requirement

We believe AI is one of the most valuable tools available to software engineers.

We expect our engineers to use AI to accelerate research, improve code quality, automate repetitive tasks, and ship software more efficiently.

We’re not looking for “vibe coders.” We’re looking for engineers who understand the code AI generates, can review and improve it, and use AI as a force multiplier-not a substitute for engineering judgment and experience.
