Job description

Talascend is currently seeking a Kubernetes Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Richardson, Texas. Overview The role involves architecting, deploying, and supporting critical IT infrastructure with a focus on Kubernetes in a manufacturing environment. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and support mission-critical systems. Responsibilities

  • Operational support of on-premises server stacks and technology, focusing on Tier 1 24x7 mission-critical needs
  • Work with hyper-converged infrastructure platforms such as Dell VXRail
  • Troubleshoot performance issues related to virtualized and physical server workloads
  • Facilitate implementation of new technology stacks and migrating workloads from physical servers to virtualized environments
  • Collaborate with semiconductor process and equipment vendors to evolve infrastructure for optimal performance and fault tolerance
  • Participate in calls/meetings with site and corporate teams to address and troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues
  • Engage in daily tier meetings with factory systems and manufacturing operations teams
  • Maintain infrastructure in accordance with corporate and cybersecurity standards
  • Support deployment and growth of Kubernetes container environments and related infrastructure

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in operational support of enterprise server ecosystems
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows Server OS and RHEL Linux (versions 5-9.x)
  • 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow or similar service management platforms
  • 3+ years of experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, vSAN, vSphere, and VCF/NSX
  • 1+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Experience with server automation activities or infrastructure as code, including scripting languages like Powershell, Ruby, JSON, Tanium, or CHEF
  • Strong knowledge of network fundamentals such as firewall configuration, VPN setup, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, routing, and switching
  • Proficiency in documenting infrastructure, automation scripts, and system configurations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with Windows patching tools like Tanium and OS hardening standards
  • Experience supporting software development lifecycle activities
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure support such as Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches
  • Experience with data recovery products like Rubrik
  • Support of IT/OT systems including manufacturing execution systems and industrial networks
  • Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial automation architecture
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision
