Java Developer for AI System Training

As a Java Developer you will design and build scalable backend systems that provide high-quality, real-world inputs used to train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. You will work primarily with Java and Spring Boot to implement microservices that power data and evaluation pipelines, collaborating with remote teams to deliver reliable, secure, and performant services. No prior AI experience is required, domain knowledge and backend expertise are the priority. About micro1 micro1 is an AI data lab that trains frontier models and evaluates AI agents by converting domain expertise into high-quality training data, evaluations, and feedback loops. Contributors bring subject matter knowledge from finance, healthcare, STEM engineering, and other domains to improve how AI systems learn, reason, and perform. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Architect robust microservices solutions to meet complex application requirements
• Collaborate with the customer team to review technical specifications and deliver high-quality code
• Contribute technical insights to improve application performance, reliability, and security
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
• Document technical processes and solutions with clear, concise written communication

• Expert proficiency in Java programming
• Hands-on experience with the Spring Boot framework for backend development
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
• Experience collaborating with remote teams in a fast-paced environment
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, data structures, and backend best practices
• No prior AI experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Prior experience on AI-driven or data-intensive projects
• Background in high-availability or distributed systems
