Job description
Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a collaborative technology team responsible for protecting enterprise infrastructure and strengthening cybersecurity operations across a complex environment. This role is ideal for an experienced security professional who thrives on solving challenging technical problems, implementing modern security controls, and partnering with cross-functional teams to reduce risk while maintaining reliable business operations.
This role is on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, Irvine, California, Portland, Oregon, or Tacoma, Washington.
Network Security Engineer Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise security technologies across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents through alert analysis, malware investigation, network traffic review, and incident containment.
- Manage and enhance security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, SIEM platforms, and related security technologies.
- Identify security risks, recommend remediation strategies, and implement controls that strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and systems teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant technology solutions.
- Lead or contribute to security projects, technology implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, operational procedures, technical standards, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide support during security incidents or critical production issues.
- Stay current on evolving cybersecurity threats, emerging technologies, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance when appropriate.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience administering enterprise cybersecurity technologies, with mid- to senior-level expertise preferred.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise security environments across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Windows server environments, and enterprise network architecture.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, or related security platforms.
- Experience investigating and responding to security incidents, performing threat analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, layered security architecture, threat mitigation strategies, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical issues while effectively prioritizing multiple initiatives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working across technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Industry certifications such as GSEC, GCIH, CHFI, CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or similar security certifications are highly desirable.
- Previous experience within a financial services or highly regulated environment is a plus, but not required.
