Job description

  • Read the Job Announcement carefully for specific filing instructions, supplemental questions, and final filing dates., Maintain knowledge of all Automated Roadside Inspection Programs, sites, and training for both current and legacy systems within the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED). Stay informed about the constantly evolving information related to FMCSA’s MCSAP Motor Carrier inspection policies, requirements, internet sites, and all inspection programs/software. Maintain communication with all CVED, MSP, MDTAP, and Allied Agencies, providing updates, notifications of issues, and information on changes. Troubleshoot and resolve computer and laptop inspection program/software conflicts, and manage routine system updates. Ensure the data quality systems, reports, and inquiries are consistently updated, maintained, and optimized for all users Including, but not limited to any job duty related with this field. Is Proxy OC (Organization Coordinator) to the OC (ie, CISS Supervisor), who is the contact for FMCSA on all related inspection software, internet sites, DataQs, accounts for the certified inspectors, updates, etc., regarding MCSAP-related data and issues. Including SafeSpect, A&I, Portal, eRODS, GUARD, CDLIS, AIM, etc. Access MILES/CJIS terminal for information needed on drivers, tags, or missing data on conducted inspections., Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Consults with personnel from CVED, MSP, MDTAP, SHA, and all Allied Agencies for the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED);
  • Planning, installing, integrating, and maintaining computer and laptop operations, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software associated with all inspection programs, sites, and software;
  • Conducting inspection requirements, it is also required to help with maintaining computers and laptops with the mandatory updates from within or from IT;
  • Maintains email, fax, and mail related to inspections received for certification daily, ensuring no backlog;
  • Processes DataQ program reviews, addressing discrepancies from carriers, drivers, and/or third-party agencies daily;
  • Daily uses the MSP.CVEDINSPECTIONS email to communicate with carriers on inspection reports;
  • Working with Training on changes to accounts, updates on users review status, etc.;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, data base or other applications on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

  2. Candidates may substitute nine credit hours in personal computer applications at an accredited college, university or institution for one year of the required experience.

  3. Candidates may substitute the completion of a certification program in computer repair, such as Microsoft A+ or an equivalent program for one year of the required experience.

  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualifications. It is important that you include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Experience with and knowledge of inspection programs and applications, such as SafeSpect, FMCSA Portal, AIM, MOTUS, ELD, Guard, Excel, and Google Drive.

  • Experience installing and configuring computer software and performing system updates., Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.
