Job description

· Work under the guidance of senior developers and the Software Development team to learn how to blend design thinking with coding skills, building toward creating products that are both beautiful and functional and that ensure a seamless user experience from concept to launch.

· Receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced developers and designers while contributing to real CAASS platform projects.

· Assist with communication to district and school level technology personnel, supporting needs analysis regarding software development updates or new requests

· We work in a Microsoft environment for infrastructure, including SQL/Server, Visual Studio and the standard .NET languages. We are a professional, team-oriented shop, very collaborative and encourage open discussion as regards problem solving and development best practices. As an entry-level team member, you will be paired with more experienced developers to build your skills in this environment.

· Attend all company meetings

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent coursework, bootcamp training, internship, or personal/academic project experience will also be considered

· 0-2 years of professional software development or design experience; internships, co-ops, and class or capstone projects count toward this experience

· Experience in customer service preferred, but not required

Specific Programming Skills (Training Provided)

· Exposure to Microsoft Visual Studio through coursework, internships, or personal projects (no minimum years of professional experience required; on-the-job training provided)

· Exposure to Microsoft SQL/Server a plus

· Basic understanding of relational databases

· Foundational understanding of indexing (will be developed further on the job)

· Beginning ability to write basic queries, with growth supported through mentorship

· Willingness to learn how to create and work with stored procedures

· Wireframing & Prototyping: Coursework, internship, or personal-project experience creating low- and high-fidelity wireframes, storyboards, or prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or InVision is a plus

· Testing & Iteration: Assist with usability testing, help gather feedback, and support iteration on designs to improve usability and satisfaction, under the guidance of senior team members

· Exposure to ASP.NET Core through coursework or projects; willingness to build proficiency on the job

· Familiarity with VB .NET a plus

· Foundational knowledge of C# from coursework, bootcamp, or personal projects

· Exposure to web development using Angular, or a comparable framework, a plus

· Interest in and basic understanding of UI/UX design principles

Full Stack Development Skills (Entry-Level / Growth Areas)

· HTML5 and CSS3 for building and styling responsive web pages and portal app interfaces.

· JavaScript and/or TypeScript fundamentals for front-end interactivity.

· Exposure to front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.

· Basic understanding of RESTful API design and consumption, connecting front-end interfaces to back-end services.

· Server-side development fundamentals (C#, VB .NET, ASP.NET Core) for building application logic and services.

· Working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), including basic queries and data models.

· Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, including basic branching and pull request workflows.

· Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum practices.

· Exposure to mobile app concepts (Android and/or iOS) a plus, given the Company’s student, staff, and parent portal apps.

· Basic awareness of cloud or hosting concepts (e.g., Azure) a plus.

· Willingness to learn end-to-end development across the full technology stack, from user interface through database, with support from senior developers.
