Software Support Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 3 years of prior relevant experience\n
• Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of C++, java or Python\n
• Basic skills with version control tools such as Git\n
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data, diagnose configuration errors, and identify causal relationships.\n
• Excellent hardware and/or software diagnostic skills with ability to read and analyze system logs, trace file or error messages to find root causes\n
• Good verbal and written communication skills.\n
• Active secret clearance\n
• Full time onsite support\n
• Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area\n, * Agile Scrum Experience\n
• Experience with Java and user interfaces\n
• Experience with Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool\n
• Multi-core and multi-threaded programming\n
• Familiarity with MDA Sensors and/or missile defense systems\n
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools\n
• Understanding of systems engineering concepts (not required to be a systems engineer)\n
• Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)\n

As a Software Support Engineer, you will have the opportunity to use your troubleshooting skills to investigate anomalies, defects or issues in products or processes, using structured methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.) to find underlying causes, assess impacts, and implement prototype solutions with cross-functional teams, documenting findings for stakeholders. In this role, you will also work across multiple software products and tools at the customer site or within the Agile SW development environment. • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis investigations for complex technical issues, product failures, process deviations, and quality incidents\n
• Collect and analyze relevant data from various sources, including product data, test results, customer feedback, and system logs\n
• Conduct detailed failure analysis investigations on complex software product observations\n
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including SW product management, SW developers, system architects, test engineers, system administrators, lab integrators, and other stakeholders, to gather information and develop comprehensive solutions\n
• Document findings and present conclusions and recommended corrective and preventive actions to stakeholders and management\n
• Develop and implement effective solutions to prevent product defect or process issues from recurring.\n
• Identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement across processes and SW products based on recurring root causes\n
