This position reports to: Chapter Lead, * Application Development - Develop applications and solutions for critical power and building electrification; create training materials, value propositions, and marketing communications

  • Customer Engagement - Collect and understand customer requirements from US-based OEMs; conduct market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform product strategy
  • Cross-Functional Leadership - Coordinate with internal ABB teams (R&D, Product Management, Digital) to execute business plans and develop dedicated customer solutions
  • Validation & Testing - Support application testing, validation, and optimization to ensure quality and performance
  • Solution Consulting - Help customers identify optimal solutions for their projects and ensure seamless customer journey experiences (e.g., application configurators)
  • Market Strategy - Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory standards; recommend strategic adjustments for long and mid-term planning
  • Industry Collaboration - Participate in national and international standardization committees
  • Digital Marketing Support - Contribute to application-related digital marketing campaigns and initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Technical understanding with willingness to continuously learn and acquire new competencies
  • Experience with CAD design (3D, 2D, and BOMs) and PLM software (Windchill)
  • Experience in product development and new product introduction
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems; ability to read, understand, and design electrical diagrams
  • Agile mindset with experience in agile working environments
  • Negotiation, market knowledge, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Second language proficiency
  • Knowledge of NEC codes (NEC 700, 701, 702) and electrical design standards
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier design and ANSI/TIA-942-A ratings
  • Experience with ANSI/BICSI 002 levels or similar electrical distribution design requirements
  • Knowledge of UL standards (UL67, UL891, UL508/508a, UL489)
  • Data center power systems experience
