Job description

Lead, conduct and present scenario and probabilistic based planning studies under existing and forecast system conditions; Contribute sound engineering input to develop robust, reliable, low-cost solutions; Exchange results and conduct critical review of data and assumptions from regional and industry stakeholders; Interface with ISO-New England, area transmission owners, and the company’s departments to understand and mitigate electric system needs, challenges, and enable growth; Coordinate and oversee studies performed by vendors and consultants, analyzing assumptions and review conclusions to integrate into company initiatives; Prepare engineering output and summarize in reports, spreadsheets, and presentations to colleagues, management, industry groups and regional stakeholders; Collaborate with cross-functional groups to develop long-range planning standards and criteria for integrating and enabling new technologies; Collaborate with ISO-NE, Academia and DOE National Labs on power, Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.

Requirements

In order to complete the above-mentioned tasks, the following skills and experience is required: Experience with transmission planning, software simulations, IBR modeling, and transient analysis; Experience applying electrical theory to planning an electric power supply system; Experience using power system modeling and simulation software for steady state power flow, voltage, short circuit, stability, and electromagnetic transients; Experience with HVDC and inverter-based resource parameters and modeling, including simulation experience in weak grid systems; Experience with PSSE and PSCAD; Experience with Python and VBA; Experience with Powertech (TSAT, VSAT), ASPEN Oneliner, EMTP (ATP), TARA, and PI Processbook; Experience applying NERC TPL, NPCC, and ISO-NE planning procedures.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineer or a related field, and at least five years of experience as a Planning Engineer, Research Assistant, or related occupation. Hybrid option to work from home may be available: 3 days in office/2 days from home.
