Job description

May be required to provide in person training as necessary Description of Job: The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) is looking for an experienced Tableau, SQL, and SPSS Trainer to design and deliver training to our staff on a contract, part-time to full time basis. This person must be comfortable training individuals with backgrounds and experience traditionally outside of data science and data analysis fields. The person also has the potential to support and consult on a new system implementation, ensuring resources for training and customer support are developed in the data management and visualization realm. They are comfortable working in low maturity technology environments with ongoing large legacy system dependencies. Our team desires an individual who is a creative problem solver that brings compassion and care to interactions with data users with a range of backgrounds and experience. Primary Duties Include

  • Understanding how multiple large health information systems are coupled and providing personalized training to staff and developing training documentation for future staff needs.
  • Training individuals to prepare data from a variety of sources, including SQL and SPSS, for data visualization within Tableau.
  • Work with OBH leadership to develop a training plan for new modern data warehousing technology for internal team members and potentially external users.
  • Create training tailored to a variety of learning styles by utilizing in-class training, webinars, or any other training methods
  • Develop, publish, and revise instructional materials for training/ user groups
  • Evaluate training needs to support the development of learning objectives; collaborate with managers and subject matter experts on the learning objectives, content, and delivery of material
  • Support the development of short- and long-term training initiatives to support the organizational mission
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend external training programs, courses, materials, and instructors to ensure training and development needs are met.
  • Understanding of data management and integration dependencies of the legacy data systems and the new solution; working with customers, the vendor, data and evaluation staff, and engineering support to ensure the solution meets service expectations and data quality standards., This position administers, maintains and trouble shoots the infoAdvantage reporting system. Requirements

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Substitution: Additional, relevant, paid or unpaid experience can substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Experience: 3+ years experience developing training materials and documentation as well as training people of very skill level and background in tableau, sql, and spss Preferred Candidate Qualities: The preferred candidate will exhibit:

  • Excellent training delivery skills with an aptitude for interacting with participants, identifying the need to repeat/reshape content to ensure participants’ understanding
  • Capable of successfully articulating anecdotal use cases to support the training of more complex Tableau and SQL concepts.
  • Experience with complex Tableau concepts required in meeting difficult client requirements and building advanced visualizations (LoD, Table Calculations etc.
  • Experience and understanding of user security for Tableau functionalities for user management and permissions
  • 3 years of work experience in a role where you’ve been responsible for cleaning messy data analyzing the data, and presenting your data based insights
  • Knowledge of visualization and Tableau SQL best practices
  • Good interpersonal skills and excellent communication
  • Manage expectations and handle ambiguity
