Job description
Our Client is seeking a highly strategic and highly technically Enterprise Architect to lead the architectural design for the replacement of their Legacy rights and contributor system. The current application is a highly customised, monolithic system that has had features added over its history. It acts as the central hub connecting our editorial production systems with their corporate financial applications.
This role is to understand the complex web of Legacy point-to-point integrations and help to design a modern and cloud-native “To-Be” architecture. An understanding of Mesh Architecturew is essential. You will be responsible for helping to define the overarching architectural blueprint, focusing heavily on a robust Integration Layer that decouples rights determination, contributor management, and financial processing without disrupting 24/7 global news production or contributor payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- “As-Is” Architecture Baseline: Work closely with the existing technical experts to decode and document the complex, often undocumented “As-Is” state, including direct database connections, Legacy XML feeds, and custom point-to-point scripts.
- Target State Design: Provide the strategic oversight for the design of the comprehensive “To-Be” architecture mapping to the 7 core functional modules (Commissioning, Identity, Rights/Contracts, Financial Processing, Sales/Licensing, Analytics, and Integration Layer).
- Integration Strategy & API Design: Architect a modern integration layer to provide secure, scalable API flows and message queues to connect the platform with the existing editorial production systems, corporate systems and external SaaS applications.
- Transition & De-risking Strategy: Develop a phased migration roadmap that allows the business to transition functionality out of the Legacy application safely.
- Data Modeling & Master Data Management: Establish clear data ownership boundaries (eg, distinguishing between contact data owned by the rights system vs. financial data owned by Oracle AR/AP) to resolve current data synchronization and identity resolution issues.
Key Stakeholders You Will Work With:
- Technical SMEs: To map current database behaviors, PL/SQL scripts, and batch vs. Real Time triggers managing the current application.
- Digital Production Architecture Team: To align the new rights determination engine with how digital content flows through the publishing applications.
- Corporate Finance & ERP IT Leads: To architect secure, compliant financial handoffs to Oracle AP/AR, including global tax logic, multi-currency routing, and automated accruals.
- Senior Business Analysts & Delivery Leads: To ensure the technical architecture perfectly supports the nuanced business rules captured by the BAs (eg, rights syndication granularity, multimedia pack forms, IR35 compliance).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Legacy Transformation Expertise: Proven track record of decomposing monolithic Legacy databases and designing transitional architectures for highly integrated business-critical systems,.
- Deep Integration Knowledge: Extensive experience designing event-driven and API-led architectures (REST, GraphQL, AWS Kinesis/SQS) across hybrid environments (cloud-native AWS and on-premise/Oracle SaaS systems),.
- Data Flow & Rights Management: Ability to map highly complex metadata flows. Familiarity with digital media publishing workflows, Content APIs, and digital asset management systems is highly desirable.
- Security & Compliance: Experience architecting solutions that handle sensitive PII (bank details, identity documents) and comply with strict financial governance (eg, API security, OAuth 2.0, encryption)
