Job description
We are seeking a Senior Market & Competitive Intelligence (MI&CI) Analyst/Manager who can elevate our intelligence capabilities by going far beyond reporting. This role requires someone who can connect the dots, interpret signals, and generate forward-looking insights that influence strategic decisions across a complex software portfolio.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role with no direct reports. You will work closely with a senior strategic planning leader as their right-hand partner, helping shape how the organization understands competitors, technology shifts, and market dynamics. You’ll collaborate with analysts who excel at data gathering but need a senior practitioner who can derive meaning, anticipate next moves, and articulate implications.
We are looking for someone with deep enterprise software experience-ideally from large SaaS companies-who thrives in a complex, matrixed environment and can keep pace with rapid changes in AI, cloud, and software ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Insight Generation & Strategic Interpretation
Transform raw data into actionable insights, connecting patterns across competitors, markets, technology, and financial signals.
Interpret announcements, product launches, AI initiatives, acquisitions, and SaaS transitions to determine strategic implications.
Develop forward-looking perspectives using competitive foresight and trend analysis.
Identify what competitors are likely to do next-not just what they’ve already done.
Advanced Research & Intelligence Development
Conduct deep research using tools such as CapIQ, financial analyst reports, earnings calls, public filings, and industry events.
Build concise briefs on competitor strategies, including how announcements reinforce or contradict prior moves.
Maintain a pulse on AI trends, SaaS transformations, cloud adoption, and emerging technologies.
High-Impact Deliverables
Produce executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentations that clearly articulate what’s happening and why it matters.
Support strategic planning leaders in preparing materials for senior-level reviews and planning cycles.
Deliver quarterly competitive updates aligned with major industry events and earnings cycles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with product owners, finance, sales, and strategy teams to proactively deliver insights they didn’t know they needed.
Serve as a trusted advisor who can explain complex market dynamics in a clear, compelling way.
Help elevate the MI&CI function by introducing best practices, frameworks, and research methodologies.
Internal Enablement
Guide existing analysts on how to move from data * insight * implication * recommendation.
Introduce tools, resources, and approaches that expand the team’s research capabilities.
Help the organization keep pace with rapid changes in software, AI, and cloud ecosystems.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or MBA preferred.
7-10+ years in market intelligence, competitive intelligence, strategy consulting, or similar analytical roles.
Strong experience in enterprise software (SaaS preferred).
Not a fit for candidates coming directly from startups-must be comfortable with the complexity of a large global organization.
Demonstrated ability to interpret financials, product strategies, and technology trends.
Strong understanding of AI trends and their impact on software markets (big plus).
Exceptional communication skills-able to brief leadership with clarity and confidence.
Proven ability to anticipate competitor moves and articulate strategic implications.
