Job description

We are looking for backend engineers to build the core systems behind BJAK’s AI Neobank app.

This role is for engineers who can build reliable APIs, workflows and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners and millions of users.

  • Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
  • Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services.
  • Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations.
  • Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
  • Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners.
  • Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance.
  • Build systems that are practical, auditable and ready for regulated financial products., * Builds systems that work in the real world, not just on diagrams.
  • Thinks through edge cases, failure modes and operational impact.
  • Can move fast without creating fragile foundations.
  • Takes ownership of production issues and long-term reliability.
  • Explains clearly what they personally built versus what the team delivered.

  • Engineers who only want isolated backend tasks.
  • People who ignore security, data consistency, monitoring or operational risk.
  • Developers who cannot work with fast-changing product requirements.
  • Candidates who talk about scale but have not handled production systems.
  • People who exaggerate impact without being clear on ownership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging.
  • Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
  • Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases.
  • Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk.
  • Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage., English is our main working language across global teams. Strong English communication is required.
