Job description

Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for enterprise SAS analytics platforms and supporting infrastructure.

  • Lead the modernization and optimization of analytics capabilities, aligning platform strategy with business and regulatory needs.
  • Manage and develop a team of platform engineers and specialists, building expertise across SAS, data engineering, and platform operations.
  • Own and manage key vendor relationships to influence platform roadmap and ensure value from investments.
  • Engage hands-on in platform design, troubleshooting, automation, integration, performance, scheduling, and resilience initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk, Finance, Financial Crime, and Business Intelligence to deliver robust technical solutions.
  • Drive platform reliability, including operational excellence, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
  • Lead major initiatives such as platform migration, data center exits, decommissioning legacy systems, and adopting new analytics technologies.
  • Define, implement, and enforce technical standards, governance, and best practices across the analytics platform estate.
  • Partner with architects and engineering teams to advance towards a hybrid or cloud-aligned analytics architecture.

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • 10+ years’ experience in managing and operating enterprise analytics platforms (SAS, grid computing, or similar).
  • Deep technical expertise in Linux (RHEL or similar), distributed/grid computing, batch processing/scheduling, and data integration tools.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Track record of owning and evolving critical production platforms in risk, regulatory, or financial domains.
  • Experience managing supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic leadership.

Desirable (Bonus) Skills:

  • Experience with SAS Viya migration or alternative analytics platforms (Databricks, Python, etc.).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid architectures.
  • Knowledge of financial services regulatory workloads (e.g., IFRS9, stress testing, financial crime, risk modeling).
  • Experience with automation, observability, and performance tuning in large-scale data environments.
  • Proficiency with the SAS language.
