Job description

You’ll be an experienced Data Engineer with deep technical expertise in Databricks and modern data platforms, working across a range of internal and customer-facing initiatives, you’ll design and build modern data platforms that transform complex data into valuable business insight.

You’ll collaborate with architects, platform engineers and stakeholders across multiple international teams to develop secure, scalable and high-performing data solutions that drive operational improvements and informed decision making.

This is a genuinely technical role where you’ll be expected to lead by example, providing guidance and mentoring to other engineers while remaining hands-on with solution delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and building enterprise-scale data platforms using Databricks
  • Developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from multiple sources
  • Creating scalable lakehouse solutions and data models for analytics and reporting
  • Optimising platform performance, reliability and cost efficiency
  • Producing high-quality datasets for reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI
  • Working closely with technical and business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements
  • Championing best practice around data governance, security and quality
  • Mentoring junior engineers and helping drive technical standards across the team
  • Exploring the use of AI and advanced analytics to enhance insight and reporting capabilities

Requirements

If you’re an experienced Databricks Engineer who enjoys building scalable solutions from the ground up and wants to influence technical direction while remaining close to the technology, this could be the ideal opportunity., * Strong commercial experience with Databricks in enterprise environments

  • Excellent SQL skills working with large, complex datasets
  • Experience designing and building data lake or lakehouse architectures
  • Proven experience developing data platforms from the ground up
  • Knowledge of data modelling and reporting solutions, including Power BI
  • Understanding of data governance, security and quality principles
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers

Desirable:

  • Experience applying AI or advanced analytics to improve reporting and business insight
  • Experience working within large, complex organisations
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern engineering practices
