Job description

This is a senior Site Reliability Engineering role at a Tier-1 North American telecommunications provider. The team maintains enterprise SQL Server environments - including Always On Availability Groups, Windows Server Failover Clustering, and hybrid Azure deployments - ensuring continuous availability and performance of mission-critical data systems supporting the business., * Architect, deploy, and support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AG) across on-premises and Azure environments

Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)
Administer Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), quorum configuration, and node health monitoring
Plan and execute failover testing, DR drills, and recovery validation
Perform SQL Server installation, upgrades, patching, and migrations
Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies across environments
Monitor and tune database performance: indexing, query optimization, wait statistics analysis
Automate DBA tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, and SQL Agent jobs
Ensure database security, auditing, and compliance across all environments
Maintain runbooks, standards, and operational documentation for 24x7 production support

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, * 4+ years of SQL Server DBA experience in production environments

Hands-on experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC)
Experience with SQL Server on Azure or in a hybrid on-premises/Azure environment
Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell for DBA task automation
Experience with backup, restore, and HA solutions (FCI, AG, log shipping)
Strong proficiency in Linux and Debian environments
Performance tuning skills: indexing, query optimization, wait analysis, and blocking investigation
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, or related field
Experience with replication, latency troubleshooting, and AG listener configuration
Knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL is an added advantage
