Automation Tester - UK Government Digital Programme

Job Title: Automation Tester Day Rate: £400/day inside IR35 Duration: 6 months (extension possible) Clearance required: SC cleared or eligible Location: Fully Remote

Are you an experienced Automation Tester looking to work on meaningful public sector projects? We’re seeking a skilled professional to join a major UK Government digital programme, helping to deliver secure, accessible, and high-quality digital services that make a real impact.

The Role

Working within a collaborative Agile delivery team, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test solutions that support the delivery of robust digital services. You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality throughout the software development lifecycle while supporting continuous integration and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks.
  • Execute functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and delivery teams.
  • Ensure solutions meet Government Digital Service (GDS) accessibility and quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and automation processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Java and Selenium WebDriver.
  • API testing using Postman and REST services.
  • Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Version control using Git (GitHub or GitLab).
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing and GDS standards.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance.
