Job description

For a leading European data center developer, we are looking for a Design Engineer who wants to contribute to the design and development of high-performance, sustainable, and mission-critical data centers. You will work alongside experienced specialists on complex projects that form the backbone of Europe’s digital economy., As a Design Engineer, you will be part of the Development & Design team, supporting the design, coordination, and technical development of multidisciplinary data center projects. You will be involved from early design stages through to construction preparation, working closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and specialist engineering partners. This role is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 1-3 years of experience who is looking to grow within mission-critical engineering and data center design., Design & Engineering

  • Support the development, preparation, and management of technical designs, drawings, and schematics.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Contribute to the design of critical infrastructure such as power distribution, cooling systems, fire safety, security, and building services.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and technical quality of all design deliverables.
  • Support compliance with international standards and certification requirements, including EN50600, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute Tier III.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate design information across multiple disciplines including electrical, mechanical, architectural, fire safety, security, and ICT.
  • Support the Design Manager in managing external consultants and engineering partners.
  • Identify and escalate technical risks, issues, and deviations within projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of design documentation across different project phases (RIBA Stages 02-05).

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain structured documentation of drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Support permitting, tendering, and certification processes.
  • Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and project requirements.

Stakeholder Support

  • Support internal stakeholders such as Development, Operations, and Investment teams.
  • Participate in technical meetings with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Record and follow up on technical actions and decisions.

Learning & Development

  • Develop knowledge in data center design, mission-critical engineering, and international design standards.
  • Gain exposure to commissioning and certification processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical innovation within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline., * 1-3 years of relevant experience in data centers, building services, industrial, energy, or maritime environments.
  • Experience in engineering design, technical coordination, or project support roles.
  • Strong interest in complex technical systems and mission-critical environments.
