Job description

As a Data Quality Officer, you’ll help maintain the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of patient and operational data across multiple systems. You’ll identify data issues, carry out audits, produce reporting, and work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to improve data quality and business processes., * Conduct routine data quality audits to ensure records are accurate, complete, and compliant.

  • Identify, investigate and resolve duplicate records, inconsistencies, missing information and other data quality issues.
  • Validate information entered into clinical and operational systems, ensuring data is accurate and recorded within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor patient and operational records to maintain high data quality standards.
  • Produce regular data quality reports, identifying trends, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with operational teams to resolve data anomalies and improve data capture processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing accurate datasets and responding to information requests.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and contribute to performance reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with GDPR, Caldicott Principles, NHS Data Security Standards and organisational information governance policies.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to verify and validate information.
  • Escalate significant data quality or governance concerns where appropriate.
  • Maintain clear documentation of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Support the development of data quality procedures, guidance and best practice.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting, operational efficiency and data integrity.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Data Quality, Data Administration, Information Governance or Healthcare Administration role.
  • Experience carrying out data quality audits and validating large volumes of data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies and trends.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience using electronic record management or database systems.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the NHS or wider healthcare sector.
  • Familiarity with EMIS Web, Hero Health or other clinical systems.
  • Knowledge of NHS data quality standards and reporting requirements.
  • Experience producing management information reports and analysing performance data.
  • Understanding of clinical pathways and operational processes.
  • Experience supporting service audits or quality improvement initiatives.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and continuous improvement.
