Job description

Merino is OCI’s internal CI/CD change workflow platform, enabling the reliable build, validation, approval, and deployment of software across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. As OCI continues to scale its cloud services, Merino plays a critical role in improving release automation, deployment safety, developer productivity, and operational excellence across engineering teams.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and evolve the next generation of Merino’s platform capabilities. This hands-on engineering role focuses on developing scalable distributed systems, modern CI/CD workflows, and cloud-native platform services that power OCI software delivery. The successful candidate will contribute across the full software lifecycle-from architecture and implementation to deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, experience building cloud-native or developer platform services, and a passion for delivering reliable, maintainable systems. They thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and leverage modern engineering practices-including AI-assisted development-to improve productivity while maintaining high standards for quality, security, testing, and operational readiness.

  • Build reliable, scalable distributed services that improve workflow automation, deployment safety, observability, and developer experience.

  • Implement high-quality software across the full development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, monitoring, production support, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop integrations across build systems, release management, approvals, rollback, and deployment workflows.

  • Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and technical planning.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver robust platform capabilities that accelerate OCI software delivery.

  • Apply AI-assisted engineering practices and automation responsibly to improve development efficiency while maintaining production-quality standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building distributed systems, cloud services, developer platforms, or CI/CD infrastructure.

  • Strong programming experience in Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar languages.

  • Experience designing, building, and operating production cloud services on OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent platforms.

  • Experience with CI/CD systems, DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, containers, orchestration, or deployment pipelines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and software engineering fundamentals.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar coding assistants.

  • Experience reviewing, validating, and maintaining AI-generated code for production systems.

  • Experience using AI to accelerate software development through code generation, testing, refactoring, documentation, or migration activities.

  • Experience building internal developer platforms with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.

  • Experience with release orchestration, progressive delivery, rollback strategies, and large-scale production deployments.
