Job description

Our Central Government client is seeking an experienced Lead Frontend Developer to join the team to accelerate the delivery of user-facing digital services.

As the Lead Frontend Developer, you will play a key role in driving frontend technical direction, ensuring compliance with technical governance frameworks, and overseeing the development of accessible, robust, and scalable interfaces. You will be instrumental in mentoring teams, assuring frontend code quality, and ensuring service alignment to broader government standards., * Design and implement modern frontend architectures utilising JavaScript (ReactJS, Node.js) and related technical standards.

  • Present frontend designs, templating strategies, and technical decisions to governance forums for approval.
  • Communicate and justify complex technical UI/UX and architectural decisions to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Assure the quality of frontend systems, ensuring robust CI/CD pipeline integration and compliance with accessibility guidelines.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior and mid-weight developers within the delivery team.

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a Lead Frontend Developer, operating within a public sector or government environment.
  • Deep experience in core frontend technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript, ReactJS, and Node.js.
  • Solid service assurance and CI/CD capability, with hands-on experience managing technical quality via Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a demonstrable ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including full-stack and backend
  • Desirable: Practical knowledge or experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
