Job description

At STABL Energy, we’re building the next generation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) using sustainable battery technology. We are looking for a Technical Sourcing Manager - BESS Hardware (m/f/d) who combines technical understanding with strategic procurement expertise to optimize product cost, manufacturability, and supplier performance. In this role, you will take ownership of sourcing and supplier development for key hardware categories including electronics, wire harnesses, sheet metal, machined components, thermal systems, and electromechanical assemblies. You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to influence design decisions early, drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives, and build a resilient supplier network capable of supporting our growth. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and procurement and wants to make a visible impact in a fast-growing energy technology company. Your mission

  • Lead DFM/DFA and value-engineering activities together with Engineering teams.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, CAD data, and BOMs to identify opportunities for: cost reduction, manufacturability improvements, assembly simplification, and supplier standardization
  • Challenge technical solutions with a cost, quality, and scalability perspective.
  • Support target costing and cost breakdown analyses throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Own sourcing strategies for assigned hardware commodities.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers across Europe and globally.
  • Lead RFQs and supplier selection processes.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and industrialization activities.
  • Ensure suppliers are ready to meet volume, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions together with Quality and Engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a comparable technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sourcing, strategic procurement, commodity management, supplier development, or cost engineering.
  • Strong experience applyingDesign for Manufacturing (DFM)and/orDesign for Assembly (DFA)principles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, BOMs, manufacturing documentation, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience sourcing at least several of the following commodity groups: Electromechanical components, PCBAs and electronics, Wire harnesses and cable assemblies, Sheet metal parts, Machined components, Fabricated assemblies and/or Thermal management components
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Fluent English., * Experience in power electronics, energy storage, e-mobility, industrial equipment, automation, or automotive industries.
  • Experience with low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of cost modeling and value engineering methodologies.
  • German language skills.
