Product Owner Frontend (Headless & API-Driven) iv.)

We are looking for a technically-minded Product Owner to lead the development of our brand websites and digital frontend experiences within a state-of-the-art, headless architecture. This role is the critical link between our brand strategy and technical execution, translating ambitious brand goals into a functional and technical backlog for our API-driven frontends. You will source content and data from our backend systems (Storyblok CMS, PIM, CRM) and steer our external development partners to deliver engaging, high-performing, and globally scalable web experiences.

Product Vision & Strategy

• Collaborate with the Website Business Owner to define and communicate evangelize a clear product vision and strategic roadmap for our decoupled frontend applications, ensuring alignment with brand identity and commercial targets.

Backlog Management & Prioritization

• Own and prioritise the product backlog for all frontend development. Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria, focused on features that consume APIs from our headless ecosystem (Storyblok, PIM, Salesforce).

API Contract Definition

• Act as a key stakeholder in the API design process. Work closely with the E2E IT Architect and backend teams to define, refine, and document the API contracts (RESTful/GraphQL) required to deliver flawless frontend functionality and data integration.

Vendor & Partner Steering

• Lead and direct our external frontend development partners across all support and delivery tiers.
• Provide clear requirements, run sprint planning and review sessions, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, tested, and maintainable code.

User Experience & Performance

• Champion a user-centric and performance-first culture. Utilize analytics, user feedback, and A/B testing to make data-driven decisions.
• Define and monitor Core Web Vitals and other performance metrics to ensure an exceptional user experience across all devices and regions.

Technology & Innovation

• Run quarterly technology reviews of the frontend and headless stack. Identify, pilot, and advocate for tools and methodologies that improve developer experience and our digital presence - with a target of one validated new capability adopted per year.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Web Design, or a related field.

• Experience and Know-how: 6+ years of proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical Project Manager, or Lead Frontend Developer in an agile, API-first environment, preferably within a global B2B context. Working knowledge of modern frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+) and frameworks (React, Vue.js, Next.js) sufficient to scope work and challenge technical decisions. Hands-on experience with a headless CMS platform required; Storyblok preferred. A deep understanding of the JAMstack architecture and its ecosystem is required. Demonstrated ability to design, document, and work with RESTful or GraphQL APIs. Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Insomnia) is essential. Exceptional agile and backlog management skills (experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools). Familiarity with web analytics and A/B testing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, VWO).
• Personality and Working Style: Strong communication and stakeholder management; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Languages: Fluent English (written and spoken) required; working German preferred.
