Job description

Lead a high visibility data science function and shape business decisions at the highest level.

This Data Science Lead role combines hands-on technical work with people leadership. You’ll lead a small team, build relationships with senior stakeholders and deliver analytics that directly influence commercial decisions. What you’ll be doing

As Data Science Lead, you’ll lead a team of Data Scientists and Analysts while remaining hands-on with analytics, forecasting and machine learning projects. You’ll help shape priorities, coach your team and ensure high quality delivery across multiple workstreams.

You’ll work closely with commercial teams, senior leaders and executives to understand business challenges and turn them into practical, data-driven solutions. The role requires someone who is comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influencing decision making at all levels.

The Data Science Lead will identify opportunities to apply advanced analytics, forecasting, machine learning and AI to improve business performance. You’ll partner with Data Engineering and BI teams to ensure solutions are scalable, embedded and delivering measurable value.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Data Science Lead or similar senior data science position
  • Strong commercial experience delivering data science solutions that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Excellent Python and SQL skills
  • Strong experience working with Databricks
  • Experience developing forecasting models and advanced analytics solutions
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and AI-powered solutions
  • Previous line management, mentoring or team leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Benefits & conditions

You’ll receive a salary of up to £75,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package. The role is based in Bristol with an expectation of two days per week in the office. This Data Science Lead opportunity is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension depending on business requirements.
