Job description

Identity and Access Management underpins G-Research’s technology estate, providing secure, seamless access for engineers, researchers and corporate users. As the firm grows, we are evolving towards a unified identity and permissions model that strengthens security while simplifying access management.

We are looking for an IAM Engineering Manager to lead this transformation. You will own the strategy, engineering direction and operational excellence of our IAM platforms, leading a team responsible for authentication, authorisation, identity lifecycle, access governance and developer identity services.

Working closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, risk and audit teams, you will simplify architecture, modernise identity services and ensure identity controls are secure, scalable and consistently applied across the organisation.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will develop a high-performing team while remaining close to architecture and design, helping build a best-in-class identity platform for G-Research., * Owning and delivering the firm’s IAM strategy and roadmap

  • Driving a unified identity and permissions model, balancing security, usability and operational management
  • Defining standards for authentication, authorisation, privileged access and identity lifecycle management
  • Leading the design, operation and modernisation of scalable IAM platforms
  • Driving automation across identity lifecycle management and access governance
  • Ensuring IAM services are secure, reliable, auditable and operationally resilient
  • Leading mentoring and developing a high-performing IAM engineering team
  • Partnering with engineering, security, risk and audit teams to influence technical direction
  • Defining and tracking platform health and control maturity metrics
  • Building a best-in-class identity control plane with consistent, fine-grained access controls across the technology estate

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering platforms at scale
  • A strong background in IAM, security or platform engineering
  • Deep knowledge of authentication, authorisation, federation, MFA, RBAC or ABAC, PAM and directory services
  • Experience designing and operating enterprise identity platforms
  • Strong architectural judgement and experience driving transformation
  • Familiarity with SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, SCIM and identity governance
  • The ability to balance security, usability and operational resilience
  • A strong communicator who can influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ownership, pragmatism and a bias for simplicity, scalability and continuous improvement
