Job description

We are seeking a Lead Application Developer to provide senior technical leadership for enterprise application development and modernization efforts. This role is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and delivering secure, scalable applications within a modern DevSecOps environment., 1. Lead software development activities supporting enterprise application modernization initiatives

  1. Design, develop, integrate, and maintain mission-critical applications using modern software engineering practices
  2. Implement application solutions aligned with enterprise architecture, security, and DevSecOps standards
  3. Develop and maintain software using programming languages such as Java and Python
  4. Build and support CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitLab Runner, YAML-based automation, and related DevSecOps tooling
  5. Implement infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code tools including Terraform, Helm, and Ansible
  6. Develop and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes-based environments
  7. Support deployment automation and release management activities across cloud environments
  8. Develop and integrate REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native application components
  9. Participate in application design reviews, code reviews, and technical evaluations
  10. Implement automated testing practices and integrate testing into CI/CD workflows
  11. Support secure software development practices including vulnerability remediation, dependency management, and SBOM implementation
  12. Collaborate with security teams to integrate secure coding practices and application security controls
  13. Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities
  14. Develop technical documentation, coding standards, and engineering best practices
  15. Mentor development teams and provide technical guidance on software engineering practices
  16. Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, cybersecurity professionals, and program leadership to deliver mission outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience in application development, architecture, and/or modernization programs
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technical teams and enterprise application initiatives
  • Experience managing full lifecycle application development in complex enterprise or federal environments
  • Experience interfacing with clients and senior leadership on technical delivery and solution design, * Enterprise application development and modernization
  • Object-oriented programming and software engineering principles
  • Java and/or Python application development
  • REST API development and integration
  • Microservices-based application development
  • CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation
  • Git-based software configuration management practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:
  • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certification
  • Scrum or SAFe Agile certification

  • Experience working in federal government or regulated environments
  • Experience with enterprise-scale cloud transformation initiatives
  • Strong leadership background in Agile or scaled Agile environments
