Job description
The Water Production Division of the Water Services Department is seeking a Support Services Aide. This position performs relatively complex clerical, accounting, dispatching, and inventory work while providing sound customer service.
Additional Support Services Aide responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Answering phone calls from internal and external customers.
- Processing monthly invoices for services delivered.
- Filing and records management.
- Accounting and inventory work.
- Managing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Tracking work orders and requests for service.
- Scheduling equipment use.
- Other administrative tasks that are required for the daily operation of the section., * Work more than 40 in a workweek to perform assigned job duties, including weekends, evenings, early morning hours and holidays as required.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will effectively demonstrate the ability to:
- Provide high levels of customer service in person, over the phone and e-mail.
- Multi-task a wide array of duties.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.
- Maintain flexibility to prioritize a heavy workload.
- Work independently and in a team., * Two years of responsible clerical work experience which provides the ability to maintain a variety of financial and related records, perform basic mathematical computations, operate base radios/telephone equipment, order and dispense supplies and materials, and deal with the public.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. For information regarding pre-screening and driving positions, The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in/with:
- SAP, or other similar business management software.
- Report writing.
- Contracts and purchasing.
- Monitoring and reviewing program budgets.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Customer service, including researching and resolving complex customer inquiries.
- Updating and inputting data into computer databases.

Hiring Range: $20.92 to $29.44 per hour.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 343. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.
