Job description

In the Manufacturing Engineering Team, we play an important role in the development and commercialization of technology and products that will accelerate our understanding of life, biology and disease and transform large industries. As a Manufacturing Engineer I, IT System Integration, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the preparation, installation and configuration of a variety of IT equipment delivered as part of our product offerings.

This opportunity is an onsite full-time 6-month contract position based in our Fremont, CA office.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Work closely with R&D Engineering teams to verify software and firmware application packaging and validation procedures, as well as upgrades and improvements
  • New product transfer of compute system and software including change management and implementation
  • Create detailed technical documentation for SW and OS build and deployment procedures for production test fixtures, tools, and DNA sequencing systems
  • Read, understand and execute program coding such as Ansible, Bash, and PowerShell
  • Perform troubleshooting of OS, driver, firmware and hardware issues
  • Prepare servers for shipment, hardware and software
  • Monitor servers for failures, and address issues as they arise
  • Support test script deployment and validation
  • Support production server issues as they arise in house including hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Build, configure, and deploy power, server, controls and network hardware based on product specifications for complete DNA sequencing systems
  • Install and configure different OS flavors (Linux, Windows) along with applications on deployed servers
  • Support the server hardware and software configuration
  • Restore and prepare computer and server system for shipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * BS in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or other technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 1+ year of experience working in the relevant fields
  • Experience scripting in Bash and/or Python; C++ debugging experience is a plus
  • Experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows administration as well as with server hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with Server Booting, including POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, and RAID
  • Some experience with Network Protocols, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, and L2/L3 technologies, as well as with networking hardware, including copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, and routers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, push/pull, lift/move/carry (up to 45 lbs lifting required)

Benefits & conditions

$85,000 - $92,000 a year - Full-time, Contract, This contracting position offers an annualized base salary between $85,000 and $92,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
