Job description

As part of the continued growth of their London technology team, our client is looking to hire a Python Software Engineer to work closely with traders, quantitative researchers and fellow engineers on the development of business-critical trading systems. The role offers broad exposure across the trading stack within a collaborative, highly technical environment with close interaction across international teams., As a Python Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and enhancing software that supports trading, market data, risk and operational workflows. You will take ownership of key projects, contribute to the evolution of the firm’s core technology platform and work directly alongside front-office stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions., * Developing and maintaining production-grade Python applications.

  • Building tools and services that support trading, research and operational processes.
  • Collaborating with traders and quantitative teams to improve system functionality and scalability.
  • Contributing to the design of robust, low-latency and highly available systems.
  • Taking ownership of projects from design through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Working within a fast-paced environment where technology plays a central role in driving business performance.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience developing software in Python.
  • Experience building and supporting production systems on Linux environments.
  • Good understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, reliability and maintainability.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to development.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within electronic trading, quantitative finance or other high-performance technology environments.
  • Exposure to market data, trading systems, risk platforms or real-time distributed systems.
  • Experience working closely with quantitative researchers, traders or front-office users.
