Job description
We have a new opportunity for a Junior BI Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team in Nottingham. This role is responsible for building and maintaining Power BI dashboards that give departments across the business clear, accurate and actionable visibility of their key performance indicators. You will work closely with stakeholders across Digital, Retail, Merchandising, Buying and Finance to understand their reporting needs and translate raw data into insight that supports better commercial decisions.
This is a great entry point into a career in Business Intelligence and would suit someone who enjoys working with data, is keen to learn, and who would like to grow into a broader Business Intelligence role over time.
What youâll be doing Build and maintain accurate, well-structured Power BI dashboards for departments across the business, ensuring data is validated and fit for purpose before it reaches stakeholders. Partner with stakeholders across Digital, Retail, Merchandising and Finance to understand their KPIs and translate requirements into clear, actionable dashboard design. Work closely with senior members of the BI team to interpret data, validate findings, and contribute to data-driven decision-making across the business. Support the rollout of new dashboards by gathering stakeholder feedback and iterating on design to improve usability and adoption. Handle and model large, complex datasets, applying Power BI (including DAX and Power Query) to create dashboards that surface trends and performance against target. Develop a working understanding of semantic models, learning how to structure data models that are scalable, reusable and consistent across reporting. Build foundational knowledge of data lakehouse architecture and how source data flows from the lakehouse through to the reporting layer, supporting the wider BI transformation. Use data from across the business - including customer, sales and channel-level data - to contribute insight that informs commercial and operational decisions. Translate dashboard outputs into clear, concise summaries of performance and trends for non-technical stakeholders. Apply data governance principles in day-to-day work, ensuring dashboards and datasets follow agreed naming conventions, access controls and documentation standards. Build strong relationships across departments so that dashboard outputs lead to real action, following up on insights and outcomes. Explore and safely apply AI tools to support ways of working while understanding the boundaries of safe and responsible AI use with company data. Maintain a working understanding of data governance and relevant legal requirements (e.g. GDPR) to ensure dashboards and reporting handle data responsibly and securely. Keep up to date with Power BI features, best practice and industry trends.
Requirements
A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or any similar degree with a strong quantitative focus. Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets. Experience using Power BI or Fabric would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills and the ability to independently gather requirements from stakeholders. Ability to present complex data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders. A curious nature, eager to learn and develop new skills.
