Job description

As a Software Engineer III, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to enhance system performance and reliability. This role involves managing project requirements, coding, testing, and ensuring timely delivery while mentoring small engineering groups. Your expertise in modern development practices and continuous integration will drive innovation and operational excellence, supporting Walmart’s commitment to delivering high-quality technology solutions that meet evolving business needs.

The team delivers innovative financial services solutions by collaborating with product management, project teams, and business partners. Members design, develop, and test software components to ensure scalable, secure, and high-quality applications. Emphasizing continuous improvement through iterative development and root cause analysis, the team supports automation, documentation, and deployment processes for seamless integration. It values technical expertise, strategic thinking, and commitment to business goals, fostering a professional environment dedicated to excellence and reliable service delivery within the financial services domain.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with product, project, business, and user experience teams to develop high-level designs for small to medium projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve business and production issues through root cause analysis and coordinated action plans.
  • Manage complex projects by translating requirements into technical solutions, conducting research, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Write, test, and maintain code adhering to quality, security, and scalability standards.
  • Develop automation scripts to support continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to small engineering teams, including offshore associates.
  • Monitor application performance and implement maintenance and improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery using object-oriented programming and iterative development methodologies.
  • Strong technical acumen with expertise in API design, platform development, and component services.
  • Proficiency in debugging, testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, perform root cause analysis, and develop sustainable technical solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, project management, and user experience.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and emerging technologies including generative artificial intelligence.
  • Effective documentation and communication skills to support project execution and knowledge sharing., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
