Job description

The team is responsible for the development & operations of Monitoring and DataAnalytics Tools for the Network Control Platform of Deutsche Telekom Germany (AAA Fixed Net Germany). We are looking for two DevOps Engineers with a strong focus on monitoring and observability. The candidate will take end-to-end responsibility for our monitoring platforms and help evolve them across both traditional infrastructure and cloud-native environments., * Administer and optimize tools such as Checkmk, Grafana, and Kibana.

  • Design monitoring concepts for VMware environments and Kubernetes-based cloud platforms.
  • Implement and improve observability based on metrics, logs, traces, and alerts.
  • Work with OpenTelemetry concepts, including collectors, exporters, metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, alerting rules, and operational KPIs.
  • Automate monitoring-related tasks, configurations, and deployments using DevOps practices.
  • Integrate monitoring and observability components into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with platform, infrastructure, development, and operations teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, preferably in English.
  • Rollout management throughout the entire application lifecycle based on ITIL/corporate processes (Incident/problem/change)
  • Collaborate closely with internal customers

Requirements

Must-have Requirements:

  • Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools, especially Checkmk, Grafana, and Kibana.
  • Good understanding of OpenTelemetry and modern observability concepts.
  • Experience with VMware and Kubernetes-based cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or similar runtimes.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, Artifactory, and Git.
  • Scripting or programming skills, preferably in Python and Bash.
  • Experience with APIs, YAML, JSON, and automation of operational tasks.
  • Some knowledge understanding of networking basics, such as DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a structured, solution-oriented mindset.
