Job description
We are seeking a Survivability Engineer to support the Systems Engineering Special Disciplines Organization within a highly advanced aerospace and defense environment. This role is responsible for supporting survivability, radiation hardness, and nuclear survivability engineering activities for military space vehicle and missile systems exposed to natural and man-made radiation environments. The ideal candidate has knowledge of radiation testing, survivability engineering principles, and systems engineering methodologies supporting mission-critical aerospace and national security programs., * Support survivability engineering activities involving electrical, electronics, and nuclear physics principles
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost/risk analysis, and supportability assessments for aerospace systems
- Support conversion of customer and product requirements into integrated survivability-focused system solutions
- Ensure military space vehicle and missile systems meet survivability and performance requirements during and after radiation exposure
- Support radiation hardness and survivability engineering analyses across component-level and system-level designs
- Conduct technical planning, requirements derivation, modeling and analysis, design support, test planning, and execution activities
- Develop and support documentation, requirements verification, and validation activities supporting overall system needs
- Serve as technical consultant supporting engineering management and customer interactions
- Support radiation testing activities at part-level through CCA-level testing environments
- Travel approximately 25-50% as required to support radiation testing and program lifecycle activities
- Operate and support test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, and multimeters
- Work closely with senior survivability and radiation engineering experts across multiple aerospace and missile defense programs
Requirements
Do you have experience in Test Execution (Quality assurance practices)?, * Knowledge of radiation testing from part-level through CCA-level environments through work experience and/or coursework
- Knowledge supporting development of radiation test procedures, test plans, and/or test reports
- Experience operating basic electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
- Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required, * Understanding of natural space radiation environments and nuclear engineering concepts
- Familiarity with electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical (EEEE) components
- Familiarity with radiation test facilities and laboratory testing environments
- Advanced degree in related technical discipline preferred
- Active or current Secret Clearance preferred
- Experience supporting aerospace, missile defense, radiation hardness, or survivability engineering programs preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to support multidisciplinary engineering environments and mission-critical aerospace programs
