Job description

The Data Engineer contributes to the overall data architecture and strategy across the company for our vehicle design, manufacture, flight test, and business teams. The Enterprise Software Team integrates a mix of COTS and custom tools to provide the right data to the right user at the right time. The data engineer will use standard software development and ETL tools to move, store, and display data. Stratolaunch maintains a suite of tools and processes, both deterministic and ML-based, for vehicle design and operation that could be included in the responsibilities of this position depending on the chosen candidates’ interest and experience., * Design and implementation of data pipelines.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data system architecture development and support.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to downselect data technologies.
  • Moving production and test data through various data systems for consumption.

Requirements

Required

  • Ability to construct highly available systems.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages, e.g. Python, Rust, C, MATLAB.
  • Administration of relational and non-relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Containerization, orchestration, and deployment, e.g. Docker, Dagster.
  • Comfort in CLI tools and shell scripting, i.e. bash, batch.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps & CI/CD systems, e.g. Jenkins, Gitlab, Bamboo.

Preferred

  • Aerospace experience
  • Familiarity with tools and workflows associated with data visualization & analytics.
  • ML Ops - hosting & maintaining LLM & RAG systems.
  • Machine learning training and inference pipelines.
  • Familiarity with developer cloud services on Azure and/or AWS., * Level I ($83,000-$120,500): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 0-5 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
