Job description

At WATA Factory, we’re looking for a Senior System Administrator - Backup & Recovery to join our IT team and take on a key role in protecting, ensuring availability, and evolving our systems within a hybrid and distributed environment. You will work closely with another senior profile, combining day-to-day operations with a strategic, long-term perspective.

If you enjoy taking responsibility for critical infrastructure, working in stable environments, and balancing operational tasks with continuous improvement and technological evolution, we’d love to meet you., * Operate, secure, and continuously evolve the global backup, recovery, and archiving infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, business continuity, and high security standards

  • Approximate workload distribution: 60-70% operations and 10-30% strategy and continuous improvement
  • Operation, maintenance, and evolution of global backup, recovery, and archiving infrastructure in hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud)
  • Administration of servers and operating systems, including deployments, updates, hardening, and maintenance
  • Monitoring backup execution, analysing incidents, and performing data recovery when required
  • Analysis of errors in backup processes, data incidents, and execution of corrective actions
  • Definition and management of data retention, compliance, and protection policies
  • Planning, execution, and documentation of Disaster Recovery tests (on-premise and cloud), including reporting for stakeholders
  • Support for internal IT and users on data protection and restoration topics
  • Active participation in the technological evolution of the backup environment and evaluation of new solutions
  • Ensuring the security of backup environments, including non-domain-joined backup servers, dedicated backup systems, and minimisation of attack surfaces and security risks
  • Administration and support of VMware environments, including the creation of new systems and virtual environments
  • Collaboration in datacenter operations, monitoring, domain management, and patching
  • Implementation and maintenance of AD tiering, use of PAWs, and hardening of Windows and Linux systems

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of experience in system administration
  • Strong experience in Backup & Recovery in hybrid and distributed environments
  • Strong experience in Critical infrastructure and data protection
  • Strong experience in Active Directory tiering and environment hardening
  • Strong experience in Hardening of Windows and Linux systems
  • Strong experience in Virtualisation, especially VMware
  • Database knowledge; experience with Microsoft SQL Server in hybrid, distributed, or clustered environments is highly valuable
  • Experience working in high-security environments and protecting IT infrastructures, * Vocational training in IT or a university degree in Computer Science or a related field, * All-rounder profile with a holistic view of systems, virtualisation, and datacenter operations
  • Analytical, methodical, and structured approach to daily operations
  • High sense of responsibility for critical systems and applications
  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for new backup and recovery technologies
  • Ability to align IT services with real business needs and stakeholder requirements
  • Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary projects and take on new challenges, * Strong team-oriented and service-driven mindset
  • Proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitude
