Job description

Aistech Space is looking for a Space Systems Engineer Manager to lead the Space Infrastructure Team in charge of designing, analysing, integrating and testing the new ENABLER payloads of our constellation and future satellites.

Your role will be pivotal in leading and managing technically a heterogeneous team of engineers/scientists/sw developers to deliver the Hydra constellation into orbit and its ENABLER payloads, ensuring the best performance and producing high-quality imaging products and services.

The main tasks are focused on

  • Lead the Space Infrastructure department in all phases: design and analysis, integration, testing, launch and operations.
  • Work together with the SW infrastructure, SW/FW, Remote Sensing, Payloads and Operations teams focusing on timely delivery of ENABLER payloads and Hydra satellites.
  • Lead R&D proposals, bureaucratic paperwork, launch plans and a long list of activities to push the company forward in line with the Strategic team and working closely with the CTO.
  • Be part of the Business and Sales team negotiation when interfacing with clients/consortium teams/strategic team to understand their needs, transforming them into internal requirements/needs.
  • Lead the Hydra constellation development from cradle to grave, guiding management and technical teams.
  • Be part of the negotiation team, working closely with our partners and suppliers, understanding their proposal and adjusting it to our objectives.
  • Be able to research for new technologies, create prototyping ideas, be proactive in pushing new technology, operational ideas, calibration methods, system concepts, etc.
  • Be responsible to follow internal standards and good practices in terms of project management, documentation and time management following an agile approach in your daily work and ensuring the team is also doing it.
  • Write articles regarding different areas of interest to be published in our Aistech News magazine and on our website blog.
  • Actively engage in the development of documentation to build out the company procedures and specification manuals.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Optics, Electronics, Telecommunications or relevant degree.
  • Have more than 7 years of experience in relevant Satellite/Payload Systems Engineering experience developing missions from cradle to grave.
  • Have more than 3 years of experience in Team Management of heterogeneous teams in a relevant Space company.
  • Open minded and extrovert, active learner and tolerant to criticism.
  • Proven experience in a full cycle of a satellite and payload systems, from early phases until launch and operations, preferably optical (VNIR, SWIR, LWIR, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of payload technologies and satellite subsystems: power, comms, AOCS, propulsion, EO payloads, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of optical performance budgeting and optical geometric and radiometric calibration on-ground and in-orbit.
  • Experience leading a team technically to deliver a mission into orbit.
  • Experience in STK, GMAT, MATLAB/SIMULINK or similar simulation SW packages.
  • Experience on hardware design, specially on Solidworks (or similar).
  • Experience on thermal design and FEM analysis of a payload and satellite system.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, integrating or testing of payloads or satellites platforms.
  • Proven experience in payload and/or satellite verification engineering procedures / processes.
  • Proven experience in ground support equipment for AIV testing (MGSE/EGSE).
  • Proven experience in environmental testing of space hardware (vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal vacuum, EMC).
  • Strong knowledge developing code in Python.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies., * Experience in any related projects with Thermal Payloads (MWIR, LWIR, etc).
  • Knowledge of open geospatial application standards and formats (e.g. OGC’s WMS, WMTS, API, etc. as well as STAC, COG, etc.).
  • Knowledge of containerized applications (e.g., Docker).
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture running imaging processing services.
  • Knowledge of imaging processing chains and imaging products.
