Job description

Schwarz Digits creates the technological foundation for digital sovereignty in Europe. As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Production and PreZero. At the same time, we operate as an independent provider in the external market to support companies across Europe in their digital transformation. We bundle our core services in the areas of Cloud, Cyber Security, Data & AI, Communication, and Workspace.

Join us and contribute to digital sovereignty in Europe. With us, you will work at the intersection of agility and security: You will benefit from fast decision-making processes, enjoy genuine creative freedom in your projects, and be able to build upon the stable foundation of the Schwarz Group.

The Commerce Platform domain is responsible for all commercial aspects. Our COMPASS team develops services that measure our customers cloud resource consumption, prepares this data transparently and thus lays the foundation for billing. We are the central place at Schwarz Digits - STACKIT for the monetization of our cloud. To achieve this, we work closely with all product teams. The teams “Customer Management” and “Product Information Management” are also part of our domain. We are heavily investing into our pricing and billing components to implement new price models, prepare for further scale and to automate every part of the entire pricing and billing flows. Our COMPASS Pricing & Billing team is looking for new colleagues to join them on their mission. Are you in for this challenge, * As part of a small, cross-functional team, you are responsible for everything from concept, design and implementation to operation (“You build it, you run it”).

  • Together with the product manager, you develop the product strategy with your team, collect requirements and plan their technical implementation.
  • You will communicate with other parts of the organisation to integrate our new billing component with our central system such as SAP etc.
  • You design flows together with our UX Designers, think about how to support edge cases in the pricing and billing process and how to build in system support for those.
  • You contribute to our testing strategy by automating tests on all layers and improving the tool chain.
  • You automate and optimize all technical processes on an ongoing basis.
  • As an experienced engineer, you will coach and mentor your fellow team members in building up and expanding their knowledge.

Requirements

  • As a senior candidate, you have ideally worked with Go for quite a while and used it in production systems.
  • Alternatively, you are experienced with some other language such as Java, Kotlin or Rust and you want to learn Go.
  • You are also familiar with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi and Helm.
  • You are familiar with different database types, especially with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with techniques to shard data stores is a plus so is any experience with event-based systems.
  • Knowledge about (Cloud-) Metering, Pricing and Billing is very welcome but not a must.
  • Agile software development is your thing, as is enthusiasm for cloud technologies.
  • In your career, you have played a key role in the development of distributed and business-critical systems and ideally also operated them.
