Job description

Job Description We are seeking a visionary Staff Engineer to take ownership of the next generation of our enterprise?grade Apache Iceberg distribution.The role involves architecting, designing, and scaling the system that powers data processing for large enterprises, managing petabytes of data across thousands of nodes.Responsibilities As a Staff Engineer you will: Drive the future of data architecture by contributing to the open?source Apache Iceberg project.Implement new features in Iceberg and work with other teams to integrate performance improvements into the Cloudera stack.Collaborate with Product Managers and customers to shape Iceberg for modern data lakes.Develop new features using modern Java platforms.Gain in?depth understanding of components across the Cloudera stack, focusing on Iceberg.Work on massive?scale distributed systems spanning 100s to 1,000s of production nodes.Debug deployment issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve system failures.Collaborate with cross?functional team members and stakeholders.Qualifications (Required) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 6+ years of experience; Master’s degree with 4?6 years; or Ph D with 2?4 years.Hands?on programming with strong data?structures and algorithms.Experience with systems design and development.Proficiency in at least one of Java, Scala, C++, Python.Passion for clean coding, attention to detail, and quality.Strong research and problem?solving skills with minimal supervision.Effective independent and team communication skills.Open?minded attitude and desire to learn.Preferred Skills Experience with Apache Iceberg or similar technologies.Interest in distributed computing or high?availability systems.Open?source project contributions.SQL optimization from query plan analysis to optimization implementation.Benefits Generous PTO Policy Unplugged Days for work?life balance Flexible WFH Policy Physical and mental wellness programs Phone and Internet reimbursement Career development support Comprehensive benefits and competitive packages Paid volunteer time Employee resource groups Other Details Location: Washington, Salary range: $184,000 - $230,000.Salary varies with skills, experience, and location.This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.EEO/VEVRAA #J-*****-Ljbffr

Requirements
