Job description

Meta’s Infrastructure Data Center team is seeking an experienced energy professional to lead operational energy management across its global data center portfolio. As hyperscale AI and compute infrastructure demands grow, this role is central to ensuring Meta’s data center energy supply is reliable, cost-effective, and operationally sound across utility interconnections, power procurement agreements, and on-site generation assets.In this role, you will own the day-to-day operational management of energy supply arrangements supporting Meta’s data center campuses-spanning utility service agreements, demand response programs, behind-the-meter generation, and grid interconnection compliance. You will serve as a key interface between Meta’s energy strategy, infrastructure development, and utility partners to ensure operational continuity and commercial performance across the data center energy portfolio., Energy Operations Manager, Data Centers Responsibilities:

  1. Build foundational relationships with key partners in order to drive operational excellence, risk management, and financial rigor in the energy space
  2. Track and analyze energy consumption, demand profiles, and power usage effectiveness metrics across the data center portfolio to identify operational risks and optimization opportunities
  3. Coordinate with data center facilities teams, grid operators, and utility account managers to manage planned and unplanned outages, curtailment events, and demand response activations
  4. Monitor market developments developments affecting data center energy operations, assess commercial and compliance implications, and develop structured recommendations for leadership
  5. Collaborate with energy origination, finance, and accounting teams to reconcile utility invoices, validate energy settlement statements, and support budget-to-actual variance analysis
  6. Develop and maintain operational playbooks, reporting dashboards, and data systems that provide real-time visibility into energy supply reliability and cost performance across the data center portfolio
  7. Identify and drive process improvements that enhance the scalability and resilience of energy operations as Meta’s data center footprint expands
  8. Partner with infrastructure development partners to support energy readiness for new data center sites, including utility coordination, load forecasting, and commissioning of the electrical infrastructure

Requirements

  1. 8+ years of experience in energy operations, utility account management, or power systems management with a large energy consumer, electric utility, grid operator, or data center operator
  2. Experience managing utility service agreements, interconnection agreements, or power supply contracts including billing validation, compliance monitoring, and counterparty coordination
  3. Experience analyzing energy consumption data, demand profiles, and utility tariff structures to identify operational risks and cost optimization opportunities
  4. Working knowledge of electric utility regulatory frameworks, tariff structures, and grid interconnection processes sufficient to manage compliance obligations and engage with utility partners
  5. Experience collaborating across facilities, finance, legal, and infrastructure teams to resolve energy supply issues and support capital project delivery, 14. Familiarity with demand response program participation, behind-the-meter generation dispatch, and on-site renewable energy integration in a data center or industrial context
  6. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  7. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  8. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

  10. Knowledge of resource adequacy requirements, capacity obligations, and grid reliability standards applicable to large commercial and industrial electricity customers
  11. Experience with energy management systems, utility billing platforms, or operational reporting tools used to monitor and optimize large-scale power consumption
  12. Experience supporting energy operations for hyperscale or large-scale data center campuses, including high-voltage substation coordination and critical load management
