Database Administrator

We are looking for a Contract Database Administrator to focus on restoring and stabilizing database operations in a complex environment made up of many smaller databases rather than a few large systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and related platforms, along with the ability to improve resilience, security, and performance during a critical period of operational recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Restore and rebuild database environments to help re-establish reliable business operations after a major disruption.

• Diagnose and improve database performance across numerous smaller database instances to increase stability and efficiency.

• Apply database security controls, hardening measures, and administrative best practices to strengthen the environment.

• Investigate and resolve database access and connectivity problems affecting users, applications, and dependent systems.

• Reconfigure and reconnect the reporting server environment so reporting services can return to normal operation.

• Support the ongoing rebuild of the server landscape by validating database functionality and addressing issues as they arise.

• Provide timely technical support during a high-priority recovery effort, communicating clearly with stakeholders and team members.

• Contribute to longer-term database reliability by identifying opportunities for continued support once the environment is stabilized.

Requirements * Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.

• Hands-on knowledge of database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.

• Ability to work with Azure SQL Database and Microsoft SQL technologies in support of mixed database environments.

• Experience supporting or maintaining MySQL databases is preferred.

• Strong understanding of database security practices, backup and recovery concepts, and system reliability.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot connectivity, configuration, and reporting-related database issues.
