When you step into a career with AT&T, you won’t just imagine the future, you’ll create it., As a Principal Software Engineer on the INLAP development team, you will lead the vision, architecture, and implementation of critical services that power fiber service qualification and address data management for AT&T. You will architect complex solutions, drive the design and strategic direction for core application components, and provide deep technical mentorship to elevate the team’s capabilities. Your role will blend technical leadership, cross-team collaboration, and application strategy, delivered at scale., * Architect, design, and lead the implementation of foundational INLAP components/services.

  • Provide strategic technical leadership; set direction for architecture, code quality, and technology adoption.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior and senior engineers; foster a high-performance engineering culture.
  • Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, and senior leadership to define business-aligned technical strategies.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and incorporate industry trends and new technologies.
  • Lead design and code reviews to ensure high standards in performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Take accountability for production-grade deployment, observability, and incident management of core platform services.
  • Guide process improvement and champion best practices in Agile, DevSecOps, and system delivery.
  • Represent the engineering team with stakeholders and in cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including several in architectural, leadership, or staff+ roles delivering complex enterprise systems.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Vision & Influence: Demonstrated ability to set and drive technical vision, influence business direction, and deliver measurable impact.
  • Component/Platform Leadership: Proven history of leading end-to-end delivery for entire applications or major platform components.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong track record working with business partners, leadership, and large cross-functional teams., * Expert-level proficiency in multiple programming languages relevant to modern enterprise backend systems.
  • Deep mastery of microservices, distributed architecture, API design, and associated security patterns.
  • Significant experience designing, integrating, and optimizing complex data systems at scale (SQL, NoSQL, geo-spatial, event-driven).
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud-native platforms, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD, containerization, and observability tools.
  • Ability to evaluate, select, and champion adoption of new frameworks, platforms, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of performance tuning, scalability, and high availability.

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with front-end or full-stack system design is a plus.
