Backend Engineer

Our client, a nationally recognized leader in the retail and supply chain industry, is seeking a Backend Engineer to support the design, development, and enhancement of backend applications that power large-scale distribution, fulfillment, and order management operations.

This role will work within an Agile product team to build scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions that support complex business processes across warehouse and supply chain environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a software engineer who enjoys developing enterprise applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of modern backend platforms., The Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining backend services and APIs that support critical business operations. The individual will work closely with product, engineering, quality assurance, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with business priorities., * Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs

• Deliver software features aligned with prioritized product backlog items
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, story estimation, daily standups, and retrospectives
• Create and maintain automated tests to validate functionality and ensure software quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and reliable solutions
• Support production readiness activities, troubleshooting efforts, and ongoing platform enhancements
• Contribute to iterative software delivery by participating in story sizing, technical design discussions, and solution planning
• Follow engineering best practices related to testing, automation, and code quality

• 3+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Java
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and RESTful API development
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational database platforms
• Experience operating within Agile or Scrum software development environments
• Experience with unit testing, automated testing, and test-driven development (TDD)
• Ability to participate in story sizing, sprint planning, and iterative software delivery processes
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with engineering, QA, infrastructure, and security teams
• Experience with Kotlin and/or Groovy
• Experience supporting supply chain, warehouse management, or order management applications
• Experience with Manhattan Associates platforms, including WMS, WMOS, Active, and/or OMS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
• Exposure to cloud-native application development and modern cloud technologies
